I recently enjoyed a sort trip to San Diego to visit the famous ComiCon Convention and like last year I was astonished!!! It looks like every year the convention gets bigger and bigger and people keep coming from all over the planet! I guess its the only time of the year in San Diego that you can see so many freaks and nerds and geeks gathered together in the same place. This year’s favourite was an impersonation of Captain Jack Sparrow (even though I didn’t enjoy the movie myself…) by a guy who not only resembled Johnny Depp (THE God) but he could imitate all of Jack Sparrows’ moves and hand gestures! He even had the golden teeth!!! I really loved this guy and I did manage to take a quick picture of him.

When I go to the convention I prefer walking around the artist’s booth and check out their stuff than visiting the big sponsors booth that sometime have nothing to do with the subject. What I hate though, is when some people try to sell me and start chatting and analyzing their work and I feel pity of them. It shouldn’t be like this; I should be free to go around and shop whatever I like and this is what I do of course. But the funny part is when my husband who is an artist himself (and you know how mean artists can be) falls into this kind of situation: he just let them think that he cares about their art and that he’s interested and at the end he says "OK! Good luck!" and takes off! Anyhow, I had the chance to by a few good books and drawings and I really had fun talking to some of these artists….

Dsc08342Like last year, we joint our Greek friend and stoning artist Nikos Koutsis who traveled all the way from Greece, as he does every year, and his dear friends Andreas and Vasilis! Besides Nikos and the gang, our dear friend Evan joined us in our trip to San Diego and it was nice to have someone to go out for lunch and dinner (especially in San Diego that has so many great restaurants) and to accompany us in our nightlife adventures… Thanks Evan we had tons of fun!!!

GagneOne of the things I like about ComiCon is that you get to see all these people’s work and chat with different artists, meet old friends and catch up with them, and see what is around… Like last year we visited our friends Michel Gagne’s and his wife booth, which was great as always, although they told us that they’re not going to have a booth next year. And I don’t blame them if you consider the fact that this year the convention reached the mythical number of 140.000 (!!!) attendees and it can get quite exhausting if you go every year and have to work everyday from opening to closing for 5 days in a row!

So that’s all folks! We’re waiting for next years convention, which I heard is not going to take place in San Diego but in Anaheim (which is fine with me because is closer!!! xixixixi)
